"Yoga Extras:" Resources for the wk of: Fri 11/17-T 11/21
I am creating these "Yoga Extras" blog posts for those of you resonating with the public yoga classes & Yoga Teacher Trainings I am leading. Inside of these blog posts you will find extra resources that support our weekly class theme. The weekly classes I guide are themed according to the season & collective energetic "weather"--This is of course influenced by many things; for instance, not only national and global events but how masses of people are feeling about and reacting to those events. It is also influenced by space weather (see spaceweather.com) & the current movement/placement of celestial bodies ie: the sun, moon, planets, nodes, stars, etc. You can find me teaching currently at Black Swan Yoga (North-Anderson) in Austin, TX. I am on the schedule as "Erika K." Mention this webpage for a free class.
Physical Focus (Peak Pose): Primary: heart, shoulders, lungs (secondary: hips, legs, twists).
Philosophical: In preparation for the holidays (holy days) the emotional body (often unconsciously) remembers times past of being with one's primary care takers/family. Many memories are perhaps warm, many may be lacking (sometimes greatly lacking) warmth. Along with this, the current of our surrounding culture often speeds up and the to do list may grow. Stress on our systems be it "good" stress or not, is still stress. Our bodies function optimaly in states of ease (homeostasis) though the energy around, & even moving inside of us may drift into a lack of ease, or dis-ease. We are practicing over the next few weeks the art of redirecting our attention, no matter the outter circumstances, to where our power rests: in the NOW, in our natural state of ease.
An idea, a simple one, had a big impact on me over the last couple of weeks;
when you find yourself starting to speed up, slow down and be where you are more fully. When I practiced this, a door opened. I invite each of you to discover what awaits when you pass through that opening.
