I am creating these "Yoga Extras" blog posts for those of you resonating with the public yoga classes & Yoga Teacher Trainings I am leading. Inside of these blog posts you will find extra resources that support our weekly class theme. The weekly classes I guide are themed according to the season & collective energetic "weather"--This is of course influenced by many things; for instance, not only national and global events but how masses of people are feeling about and reacting to those events. It is also influenced by space weather (see spaceweather.com) & the current movement/placement of celestial bodies ie: the sun, moon, planets, nodes, stars, etc. You can find me teaching currently at Black Swan Yoga (North-Anderson) in Austin, TX. I am on the schedule as "Erika K." Mention this webpage for a free class.
Physical Focus (Peak Pose): Side bends, gentle back bends, twists, (arm & wrist strengthening/relief) all to prepare for Jump Through prep exercises--practicing new strengthening techniques to prepare our physical practice for more.
Philosophical: In light of all of the death/re-birth energy I and many others are tuning into in our current energetic atmosphere, we are, this week, preparing for more.
Hello, dear ones.
Click the above pic for the whole of this week's reading. I've only ever heard the first few lines (those I read in class). So the remainder of the poem is new to me too. As per usual, take what resonates, leave the rest. I'm also including here a podcast I've been really really enjoying. It is essentially (mostly) a collection of NDE stories: Near Death Experiences. I find these utterly fascinating. The one I included here is a story that takes place on the Guadalupe River not far from Austin. There has just been so much death/re-birth energy I have been tuning in to, both literal and metaphorical. I hope you enjoy Mel's podcast as much as I have. It's called, Love Covered Life. Below that I've added some pics from an email I receive regularly from an old friend/mentor/colleague, Dr. Deb Kern, who also taught in Austin for years. She is, in my opinion, a clear, solid, brilliant resource for healing/upgrading. In her email this week she included a meditation she created. I am here including it for you. Reach out to her on the email support@deborahkern.com (as seen on the very bottom of this blog) if you would like to start receiving her emails--she is always including helpful resources for moving through this intense growth period we are all experiencing together. Her Shakti Dance is amaaazzing and a fantastic addition to a standard yoga practice.
In Love & service,
ek.
