"Yoga Extras:" Resources for the wk of: Fri 8/18-T 8/22
I am creating these "Yoga Extras" blog posts for those of you resonating with the public yoga classes & Yoga Teacher Trainings I am leading. Inside of these blog posts you will find extra resources that support our weekly class theme. The weekly classes I guide are themed according to the season & collective energetic "weather"--This is of course influenced by many things; for instance, not only national and global events but how masses of people are feeling about and reacting to those events. It is also influenced by space weather (see spaceweather.com) & the current movement/placement of celestial bodies ie: the sun, moon, planets, nodes, stars, etc. You can find me teaching currently at Black Swan Yoga (North-Anderson) in Austin, TX. I am on the schedule as "Erika K." Mention this webpage for a free class.
Physical Focus (Peak Pose): This is a slower paced flow designed to help soothe our frayed psychic edges. We will focus on major stress holders: Hips, Heart (including heart meridian work), Upper Back, Shoulders, Quads/Hams. We will also be journeying toward a peak balancing pose, breathing as our stabilizing muscles do the work of bringing us back to center when larger forces (gravity) threaten to throw us off center.
Philosophical: Holding two energies at once to remain in the center/balancing point. As per our reading this week, we can be feeling a given emotion such as sadness AND simultaneously see some form of beauty within our circumstances. One can be feeling stressed or scared AND tune in to something we find beautiful. Our choices equal our power: one can be sick AND remain bitter about it, or one can be sick AND practice the energy of hopefulness. Again, our choices equal our power. We can choose to increase or decrease our power.

Hello, dear ones.
The message I've been getting is that many folks are feeling fried from not only the physical heat but also the emotional/mental from so many energetic shifts taking place in our environment. Our class will be full of exercises that I hope many of you take home to practice if and when feeling overwhelmed.
Click either of the images or the video below--each is a live link. The TRE happens to be one of my very favorite exercises to release deep tension. Hoping many of you find it as helpful as I have over the years.
In Love & service,
ek.
