🌕 "Yoga Extras" Resources for the wk of: Fri 6/2-6/6🌕

I am creating these "Yoga Extras" blog posts for those of you resonating with the public yoga classes & Yoga Teacher Trainings I am leading. Inside of these blog posts you will find extra resources that support our weekly class theme. The weekly classes I guide are themed according to the season & collective energetic "weather"--This is of course influenced by many things; for instance, not only national and global events but how masses of people are feeling about and reacting to those events. It is also influenced by space weather (see spaceweather.com) & the current movement/placement of celestial bodies ie: the sun, moon, planets, nodes, stars, etc. You can find me teaching currently at Black Swan Yoga (North-Anderson) in Austin, TX. I am on the schedule as "Erika K." Mention this webpage for a free class.

This week's SeQ:

Physical Focus (Peak Pose): Archer Dolphin (an inversion/arm balance/shoulder opener)

Philosophical: "Spiritual wisdom" tends to invert current popular cultural values. Yoga Sutra (thread of wisdom)—> "Pratipaksha Bhavana" translates approximately into meaning "equal application of the opposite brings one back to equanimity." Equanimity, where rests our balance, POWER & security.

"Time" is feeling as if it is speeding up in our techy age, along with instant, short-lived appreciation of what is in front of us. I myself have gone on a Tik Tok fast. ;) Equal application of the opposite: Slow down. Look. Create time to bask in the generative energy of appreciation. It may just be life-saving/creating.

What inspired this week's theme? See below (& click link to listen to the podcast):

I've related to this being above, Glennon Doyle, for many years. This week she happened to interview another writer with whom I've felt some serious connection. I listened to this podcast twice in a row and proceeded to take the rest of my day off to spend alone, outside, by myself. Warning: the content is quite intense & deals with the subject of death. If you are not ready to approach such a subject, you may want to skip this. I myself am fascinated by the subject and was greatly/positively (after some hard feelings) affected by this listen.

Physical life is finite...to what are we spending our ephemeral lives paying our limited and valuable attention? And who directs our attention? Culture? Or our Selves?
